Fall 2023 Update

Summer Re-Cap:

  • Glow Kids Summer Camp (40+ kids came)

  • Women's Day Retreat (7 ladies joined)

  • Family Fun Days (lake day, water day)

  • Team Mission Trip to Japan (re-cap previously sent)

  • Youth Camping Trip (10 teens came)

What's Happening This Fall?

Glow Kids launched in September! The children are starting at the beginning of the Bible, learning who God is and what His plan for salvation is. Glow Kids is well attended and both moms and kids enjoy coming on Friday afternoons.

Rachel McEachron, the Glow Kids leader had a baby boy on September 29! We welcome Silas McEachron to our Glow family! Prior to his arrival, Rachel did a great job of lining up teachers and leaders from both the Glow Community and the American community. We are excited to see how God uses each of these people this Fall!

Glow Youth said goodbye to two of our OG’s! (Original Glows). Thankfully these two teens were able to attend our Summer Camping Trip and we hope to connect with them in Japan soon. Glow Youth has resumed meetings on a monthly basis. We have more teens than ever and we continue to pray for a leader.

Glow + Learn kicked off in September! Julie, the Glow + Learn coordinator has created a meaningful program for our attendees each Wednesday that we meet. Julie is combining both a scripture discussion and an English idiom discussion. This connection point is well-attended and is a safe place for deep discussion about faith and the Bible.

Our 8th annual Undokai was on October 15th! Thank you so much to everyone who donated cakes. It was a blast and everyone enjoyed fellowshipping, playing games, and more!

Fiona Thiessen, the 1:1 Coordinator will be hosting a 1:1 gathering in November and we anticipate a full house being that we currently have 30 1:1 partnerships taking place!

We visited St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Walled Lake, MI, to visit their International Friends Ministry! Many Japanese families live in Detroit because of the many Japanese companies there! They have over 150+ ladies joining every week and host ESL classes, bible classes, and more. We met the Director at the Reaching Japanese for Christ LAX Conference in March, exchanged contacts, and wanted to visit them!

We learned so much from St. Matthew and are so excited about what God is doing in their ministry and what we can implement here in the PTC area. Fun fact: St. Matthew has Japanese signs all over the building so that they feel comfortable and right at home. We are so grateful for this partnership and connection with St. Matthew and RJC Network.

Ongoing regular meetings take place that combine the US + Japan: monthly online prayer meetings, leadership training for Japanese Leaders, and weekly online discipleship study for believers.

GLOW Japan

Glow Japan is led by three leaders who work together to encourage, visit, bring to church, and meet with returnees as often as possible. KBSJ is an online Bible study that takes place every week led by a local missionary. We are in need of more KBSJ Leaders. Please pray that we can find more!

Glow @ Home, an online group provides monthly encouragement and Bible teaching for all returnees.

Thank you so much for supporting the mission and work of GLOW!
